Hay un grupo de verbos auxiliares que son muy fáciles de usar. Si usted pone estas palabras delante de cualquier verbo, el sentido cambia. No es necesario aprender reglas. Se usan igual para todas las personas (I, you, he, Mrs. Brown, the girls, etc.) y no hay ningún cambio ni en esta palabra auxiliar ni en el otro verbo principal. Cuando usted aprende usar estas palabras va a poder decir mucho más en inglés.

These special auxiliary verbs never change between persons (I and he for example) and they are used with the original base verb that doesn't change.

I can work -- yo puedo trabajar

I can't work -- yo no puedo trabajar

(Compare con: He can work y He can't work)

I could work -- yo podría trabajar (conditional)

I couldn't work -- yo no podría trabajar o más

I ought to work -- yo debería trabajar (¡igual que

Pronunciation: ought to (aat tu) or (aata)

Pronunciación: ai aat tu werk o comunmente: ai aata werk

you ought to work (iú aata werk) - tú, usted, o ustedes deberían trabajar

Casi nunca se usa "ought" en negativo.

We rarely use the negative: ought not.

Hablando de pronunciación, could (kud) and should (shud) se pronuncian sin la "l". El sonido se parece a la palabra "good".

Hay una palabra más que suena así: would. Esta palabra suena exáctamente igual que la palabra para madera en inglés - wood.

I would work -- yo trabajaría

I wouldn't work --yo no trabajaría

Para traducir "would" agrega -ría al final del verbo en español.

Ejemplos: would go - iría, would help - ayudaría, would eat - comería

"Would like" se usa para ofrecer comida o bebida. Tal vez se podría traducir "would like" en estos casos con el verbo "desear".

What would you like to drink? ¿Qué desea para beber?

Would you like some dessert? ¿Desea postre?

I might work -- tal vez trabaje

I might not work -- tal vez no trabaje

It might rain -- tal vez llueva

I may work -- tal vez trabaje (igual o casi igual

                          que might)

I may not work -- tal vez no trabaje

Might and may are the same as saying "maybe".

I must work -- yo debo trabajar

I must not work -- yo no debo trabajar
